IE 3 is particularly prone to problems with the Temporary Internet Files and
History folders; as a result, it's a good idea to clear them both regularly.
In the browser, click the View menu and select Options.
To clear the history bar, click on the Navigation tab, and then click the
Clear History button.
To empty the cache, click on the Advanced tab. Under Temporary Internet
Folders, click the Settings button. In the new window, click the Empty
Folder button. Be patient; it may take a little while. Also on this screen,
you can control the amount of hard drive space which is allocated to the
Temporary Internet Files. You can adjust this according to your preferences.

In the browser, click the View menu and select Internet Options.
To clear the contents of the Address bar, click on the Clear History button.
To empty the cache, click on the Delete Files button under the Temporary Internet
Folders heading. Be patient; it may take a little while. If you'd like to manually control
the amount of hard drive space allocated to temporary files, click the Settings
button.

In the browser, click the Options menu and select Network Preferences.
To empty the cache, click on the Clear Disk Cache Now button. To control the
amount of hard drive space allocated to temporary files, simply change the number in the
"Disk Cache" box.
• Netscape Communicator
In the browser, click the Edit menu and select Preferences.
Some versions of Communicator (but not all) will allow you to clear the contents of
the Location bar. In the Navigator category in the Preferences window, click the
Clear Location Bar button at the bottom right-hand corner of the window.
To empty the cache, double-click the Advanced category, and then select Cache.
Click the Clear Disk Cache button. To control the amount of hard drive space allocated
to temporary files, simply change the number in the "Disk Cache" box.
